As the journey progressed, we stopped for two days in the town of Sindhudurg to enjoy the beauty of the sea and the luxuries offered by our hotel. Leaving Sindhudurg behind, we continued our journey into Malvan, where we indulged in some professional scuba diving. It was beautiful to see so many colourful creatures living underwater! The trip then moved on to the scenic city of Guhagar in Ratnagiri, where the shoreline hugged the coast. On the way, the drive down Ganapatipule Coastal highway gifted us with a spectacular view of the sea right from the comfort of our seats. Paired with the car’s good mileage, it became one of the highlights of our trip.
We even crossed the open sea to reach Jaigad Fort, albeit on a ferry boat, truly proving that there is no terrain that the Datsun hasn’t seen. ;) The last two nights of our trip were spent in Guhagar before we made our way back to Thane. Before we got home, we made our final stop at Ballaleshwar Ganesh Temple.
Although this was an incredible holiday, every day in my Datsun feels like a holiday and I’m already looking forward to my next drive!
A few months ago, I decided to drive down the spectacular Konkan Coast with my family, friends, in my new Datsun GO. Little did I know that it would turn out to be the trip of a lifetime! Our band of travellers consisted of 4 adults (myself included) and children, and about six pieces of luggage. Sounds like quite a big group, right? But my Datsun GO easily accommodated us all – the luggage fit comfortably in the boot and everyone had a seat to themselves.
Our journey began at 12 noon on a Saturday. Armed with Google Maps, we set off from Thane to the first destination – the majestic Panhala Fort. We were simply awestruck by the magnificent statues of Baji Prabhu Deshpande and Shiva Kashid.
After witnessing the splendour of the fort, it was time for us to pack up and head for a Mukh Darshan of the Mahalaxmi Devi in Kolhapur.
